Comparison Between Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 | Difference in Properties, Applications and More | CNCLATHING

2020.4.28

Nylon 6 and nylon 66 are the most common nylon polyamide grades that widely used in textile and plastic industries. As the variants of polyamide, they have many same characteristics, but the type and quantity of polymer chains in their chemical structure bring the differentiation. In order to simplify the selection of these two plastic materials in engineering applications, here we present the comparison between nylon 6 and nylon 66, to show the difference between PA 6 and PA 66.

CNC Machining Plastic Material - Nylon 6

Nylon 6 or polycaprolactam is a semicrystalline polyamide, not like other nylon plastics, it is not a condensation polymer. Nylon 6 fibers are general in white, can be dyed to other colors, tough, wrinkleproof and highly resistant to abrasion and chemicals, have high tensile strength and impact strength, machinability, good elasticity, and luster. It also provides outstanding wear and abrasion resistance, long-term heat resistance, high flame-resistant grades (UL 94VO), and a high water absorption rate.

CNC Machining Plastic Material - Nylon 66

Nylon 66, also referred to as nylon 6-6, nylon 6/6, or nylon 6,6. Nylon 66 is an amorphous solid that has excellent abrasion resistance, high melting point, high tensile strength, high dimensional stability, high lubricity, resistance to hydrocarbons, and photo degradation, as well as exceptionally balanced strength, ductility, and heat resistance. It is very resilient, waterproof in nature, and slightly soluble in boiling water, difficult to dye but possesses high colorfastness and not easy to fade.
